"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask
yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and
do that. Because what the world needs is people who
have come alive." -- Howard Thurman

Finding My Passion |
|
How do we find our passion? And do we find our
passion or does it find us? My passion unfolded in a
very subtle, yet interesting way. For as long as I
can remember I have been interested in people. I
wanted to understand people. I wondered what made
them tick. I was curious as to their motivations and
interests. I also questioned what made me tick. Why
did I make the decisions, good and could-be-better,
that led my life in a certain directions.
As curious as I was about others, my journey would
lead me to self-understanding, to uncovering my
motivations and interests. At the time that my
passion was revealed to me, I was working at an 8-5
job as a bookkeeper. I was in a second marriage,
raising two children and somewhat enjoying my job. I
had a stable income and could easily imagine staying
at that job until I retired. If nothing had
intervened, I might be there today, feeling slightly
dissatisfied but not sure what was missing.
The first sign of things to come arrived in the form
of a departmental reorganization. The unit I worked
in would be absorbed by the main department. Rather
than working with a small number of people safely
ensconced behind my Westinghouse walls, I would be
serving the needs of a department with over 225
employees. As the payroll/benefits person, I would
be interacting with them often. I would be forced
out of hiding. I fought valiantly to find another
job in a different department--a place where I could
continue to hide and feel safe.
However, once this change began, there was no way to
stop it. I was unable to find another job. I cried
and railed against the injustice of it all, but,
before long, I was in my new position. So I did what
I do best. I adjusted. I learned my new duties, met
the people I would be serving, and was quite
surprised to discover that this new job was a
blessing in disguise. I truly believed that I was
happiest hiding behind those padded walks balancing
ledgers and interacting with a small, known group of
people.
I learned that I loved meeting and helping these
larger groups. I discovered my outgoing nature,
hidden for years behind my limiting belief that I
was shy. And my passion was delivered in the form if
a temporary employee, hired to help us get caught
up. Her name was Marty and we quickly became
friends. Marty was about to embark upon a new
career: Hypnotherapy. After her first weekend of
training she came in to work and announced, "This is
fascinating. You have got to come do this with me!"
What was it that made me respond with, "Sure, why
not?" Sure, I love to learn and I had enough money
saved to pay the tuition but what prompted me to
make what would be a life changing decision? All I
can say is that, intuitively, it felt right. And,
after my first weekend of training, I
knew
that this is what I was supposed to be doing. That
was 18 yeas ago. It has changed my life. Over the
years my passion for my career has only become
stronger. Bookkeeping paid the bills but I was never
passionate about it-- and no wonder. Now that I have
connected to my passion this is the only way that
I'm willing to live. Every day is new and different
and I feel excited about life!
As you can see, my passion found me. Was it divine
timing? Was it my soul's calling? That's a story for
another day. |

Self Hypnosis
Training for Teens & Adults
Hypnosis can be defined as deep mental and physical
relaxation. When we are relaxed we accomplish twice
as much work as we do when we are tense and nervous,
with HALF the effort.
Imagine a tool so powerful that you can change your
life in just 15 minutes a day. In this class you
will experience hypnosis, learn to take yourself
into the hypnotic state and learn how to write
effective suggestions to achieve your goals. You
will learn how to reprogram your subconscious mind
to raise your grades, improve self-esteem, overcome
fears, reduce stress, improve sleep, relieve test
anxiety and much more!
Bring your teenager (13 and up) to class! Hypnosis a
a great tool that will help them with high school,
college and in their daily lives as adults. You will
both be less stressed!
Comment from a
former student: "Learned to relax; this is a
valuable and powerful tool to change unwanted ways
