Emotions |
|
|
The holidays sometimes bring up long
buried emotions. Some that we
appreciate revisiting and others
that are not as welcome. As I
decorated my tree this year -- my
first Xmas tree in at least 10 years
-- I revisited quite a few sweet
sentiments that were attached to
certain decorations. These were
pleasant emotions, reminding me of
past holidays when my children were
growing up. But for many the
holidays bring up painful emotions
that have been suppressed. What to
do then?
First, keep in mind that emotions
are simply energy in motion. We can
see that clearly by observing a baby
or toddler. Even though they may
throw a raging fit, crying as if the
world is about to end, very shortly
they are sunny and smiling again.
Now, I'm not recommending that you
throw a fit to clear out your
negative emotions. There are better
ways for us grown ups. :)
Here are a few tips for working with
emotions during the holidays:
1. Keep breathing... sound simple?
It is. And yet, when we want to
stuff something back inside we hold
our breath so it would make sense
that we can release emotions when we
keep breathing and get back to
feeling good.
2. Take a break from everyone.
Excuse yourself and take a walk
around the block. While you're
walking, concentrate on breathing
fully, stand up straight and walk
with a half smile.
3. If you have learned the Emotional
Freedom Techniques (EFT), USE IT. I
am embarrassed every year when I
hear the song, Silent Night, because
I cry. When I heard it this year I
was sitting in front of my computer
so I just tapped on feeling sad and
the feelings dissipated with one
round of tapping.
If you haven't learned EFT I am
teaching a class on February 2, 2008
for the general public. See below
for the details.
However you celebrate this time of
year, enjoy yourself! |

Neurotherapy |
|
If you haven't had a session in
awhile and are considering making an
appointment, I have something new to
offer!
I have added Neurotherapy to my life
and practice in the last few months
with some amazing results. I never
expected to be interested in using
technology in my hypnotherapy
practice but after spending three
days at a conference next to a
licensed psychologist and
experiencing a profound trance
state, I was convinced. I use the
therapy every day and in the last
few months I've noticed that I am
sleeping much more soundly and my
connection to Spirit has deepened.
"Over 40 years worth of research has
found neurofeedback effective in
treating numerous conditions
including ADHD, depression and
anxiety disorders, among others.
Researchers have found the training
reliably strengthened alpha/theta
waves; decreased depression and
promoted positive personality
changes; increased spirituality, and
decreased alcohol abuse during
follow-up in 67-93% of subjects."
Make an appointment and experience
the results for yourself!
