Life is filled with beginnings and endings, isn't it?
Another dear friend made her transition recently, Janet
Macy. A lovely soul who could help one heal just by
spending time with her. In March, another friend and
colleague, Maryelizabeth Reynolds, left the physical
plane. And for those of you who have been reading this
newsletter for some time, my step-brother, Larry, moved
on in January of this year. I liked the quote above from
Mark Twain as I've had some interesting experiences with
all this and I do believe that they're nearby.
I was feeling sad the morning that I learned that Larry
has passed on, thinking about how I would miss our
visits, thinking about his love and advice, his laugh,
his struggle to stay alive. And then, as I was staring
at my vitamins, making sure that everything was there
before I swallowed anything (I sometimes forget what I
have taken) I heard Larry's voice in my right ear. He
said, "Don't be sad for me, K. I'm free!" He sounded so
happy that I haven't been sad since.
In May, while attending a conference, I learned that my
dear friend Maryelizabeth had died suddenly. I was
shocked and deeply saddened at the loss of such a
beautiful soul. That night, while I was asleep, I had a
"dream" (I call it a dream but it felt more like a
visitation) I saw Maryelizabeth looking healthy and
radiantly beautiful. Then I heard her voice with her
unique British accent, say, "I'm fine, Katherine,
really. I'm fine."
I haven't heard from Janet yet but I fully expect to.
Perhaps she needs more time to be with her family first.
My mother passed on 25 years ago and, of course, my
grandparents had moved on by then as well. I feel them
around me when I am in need of support. I received a
wonderful message from my family during a workshop a few
years ago, "We're with you far more often than you
think." It is indeed a comfort and as Mark Twain says,
"as though they were traveling abroad." |
