I have been working with "Marilyn" for some time. She has made tremendous strides in resolving her abusive childhood issues. She is divorced, going back to college, raising her children as well as her granddaughter and working part time. At the beginning of this session Marilyn reports that her thoughts have shifted. She now thinks, "I'm going to make it." She's feeling more confident, rather than panicky. Now when life hands her new challenges, she takes them on with a positive outlook and a strong belief in herself as an independent, capable woman.
 
She now reports that she is standing straight, not expecting others to make her okay, she is no longer expecting her ex-husband to approve of her. She now looks to herself for approval. When she is out with friends she no longer fears their opinions of her.

Although an old fear-based part popped up during a situation at work she suddenly realized that she could handle it and that others don't define who she is. That is a profound change. She is also recognizing that it is all about choices and she is taking care of herself by making time for homework, stretching, exercising, eating a healthy diet and being kind to herself.
